In a surprise update, Microsoft is showing owners of its Xbox 360 video game console some love with a new update that adds support for 2TB of storage.
Beginning today, members of the Xbox 360 Preview Program will get a system update that adds support for two external hard drives and 2TB of storage. In addition to that, Microsoft is ditching the reserve storage requirement for games. In a post on the Major Nelson blog, the company says that more external storage report was a highly requested feature for the console. The Xbox 360 users external USB hard drives to store games, videos and apps.
Only consoles enrolled in the Xbox 360 Preview Program are getting this system update today. The company plans to roll it out to all users later this year.
