Microsoft is adding more games to its Project XCloud streaming service and finally opening up console streaming to everyone through the official Xbox app for devices running Google’s Android operating system.
Project XCloud began offering access to this new slate of games earlier today. Civilization VI, Destiny 2 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection all join the couple dozen titles you can play on your Android smartphone by streaming from Microsoft’s servers. That is, you can play these games if you live in the United States, United Kingdom and Korea. You also need to be a member of the Project XCloud Beta Program that Microsoft launched late last year. Microsoft’s Larry Hryb announced the additional titles on Twitter this morning.
Expanded Xbox Console Streaming became available to members of the Xbox Insider Program this past Friday. Console Streaming lets you turn your home Xbox into a game server of your own so that you can stream any game in your library to your Android device.
So today is a pretty good day to be into Xbox, but not necessarily into gaming in your living in the traditional sense. That’s a cause I can get behind.
